Spaghetti Bolognese

You can’t go wrong with Spaghetti Bolognese, it’s so easy and always a crowd pleaser. To make this big bowl of pasta feel less guilty, sneak in some veggies. You won’t even be able to tell they’re there!

1 pound lean ground pork
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, small dice
1 can (750ml) crushed tomatoes with no salt added
1 cup carrot, grated
3 cups fresh spinach
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried basil
1 tbsp salt
olive oil
1 pound dried spaghetti noodles, cooked

– heat a pot on medium high heat
– add olive oil and cook garlic and onion for 5 mins, or until garlic is slightly brown
– add pork, cook for 5 mins until pork is cooked
– add tomatoes, carrots, spices and salt
– bring to a boil then turn down the heat
– let it simmer for 35 mins
– add spinach, cook another 5 mins
– serve over cooked spaghetti

Yield: 1.75 L of sauce, 3 portions
